Happy Hearts Dorm 5/8/2010
May 9th, 2010Hello dear friends,
This past week we’ve been busy with all the logistics of establishing a new ministry project: A Christian Dorm for Mein Hill tribe children.
Poor village children will live in the Christian dorm while attending school. The house parents are a Christian couple named Lek and Nui. We’ve known them for many years and worked with them on some village evangelism projects. The dorm will start with seven village children, and we pray that they will all come to know Jesus while living in the dorm and attending school.
Pray that God will be at-work in this new hostel, and draw the children (and their families) into saving faith.
Grace and Peace to you,
Dave & Shirley Callahan
We visited the village of Huay Lee to meet with the children and their relatives. Here our happy group includes the children, the new house parents, Shirley, our volunteer social worker Mint, and the relatives of the new dorm students. They look cool, but the 100+ heat was hard to take!
This is the mother, baby brother, and grandmother of one of the children.
They are both Christian, but quite poor. The new dorm is an hour away; close to a good public school.
At our foundation office, Shirley and Aom teach the new dorm house parents how to setup an email account.
We used an internet café, in the lobby of a hotel in Nan city, as a testing site to have every new student complete an
On-line IQ test. The test was completely pictorial (no language barriers) and we got a baseline IQ for each child.
In the small town of Chiang Klang, this is the new rented home for Happy Hearts Dorm. The new school year starts next week.
