Mein Ministry Apr 18/2010
April 18th, 2010Hello Friends,
We’ve been travelling for several days, into the mountain villages of Northern Thailand, so this is our first contact in a while. We joined a small mission team from South Carolina to do some village evangelism and teach village children at a two-day English Camp (almost like a VBS, but with a focus on English language along with the Gospel). There were about 30 children in the camp, and we enjoyed a great time with them, though the weather was very hot and smoggy. Temperatures stayed well over 100 degrees, but God blessed us with safe travel, good rest, and many opportunities to share His love and the Words of Life.
Pray that the Gospel seeds we planted will come to harvest in many villages.
Pray that isolated believers will find ways to safely gather and encourage one another.
Grace and Peace to you,
Dave & Shirley Callahan
This was the view as we stopped to have a roadside lunch near a mountain village. The air was filled with thick smog
from all the fields that are burned off during dry season.
At a Mein hill tribe village, team member Tommy Beheler, is talking some basic English with teenagers from the village.
Not all the youth are Christian, but they asked about how to live a “Christian life” in the village.
At this tiny Mein village, miles from a paved road, we visited with and encouraged two ladies who are the only Christians.
The older lady (foreground) lives alone and is a professed believer, but she cannot read and has no Bible.
The lady in the doorway wants to become a Christian, but her husband refuses to allow her to make a public profession.
This is the group of children who attended our English Camp. They studied basic English words and phrases,
learned Christian songs, played games, and heard the story of creation and the coming of Christ.
