Harvest time 12/13/2009
December 13th, 2009Hello everyone!
We’ve returned from a short visit with family & friends in America, and are trying to adjust our sleep back to Thai-time… not easy!
Last night we went to bed by 8pm and woke up at 3am, wide awake and ready to go. Hopefully we can get back into a regular schedule soon.
Our rice harvest is done and God blessed us with twice the rice it will take to feed our Thai families for the entire year. It cost us $1800 to plant and grow a 6 acre crop to yield about $4000 worth of rice! We can also plant another crop early next year.
At Home of Grace, their fish pond is yielding catfish large enough to eat and sell. So, God has been faithful to bless all the hard work.
Pray that we enjoy a safe and fruitful holiday season. Pray that our children and families bring honor to Christ as they celebrate His birth.
Grace & peace to you,
Dave & Shirley Callahan
For the rice harvest, the paddy is drained, and the dry rice stalks are cut and bundled by hand.
After a hard days work, the truck was loaded down with a heavy portion of the rice stalks.

This is the small fish-pond that Tom built in the garden for Home of Grace.

The boys are really excited to harvest and eat a few of the catfish from their pond!

At Home of Comfort, the house mother, Moey, is expecting a baby boy next March!
