Frog Farm 9/14/2009
September 14th, 2009Hello Friends,
As you know from following our weekly letters, our families are involved in many self-help projects. One unique project is raising frogs at Home of Grace. House parents, Tom and Pikoon, planned and built a frog-raising system that uses old truck tires and some plastic water pipes. They bought 450 tiny frogs to start the “frog farm”. The frogs will grow into quite large and edible mature stock to provide meat for the family or be sold for profit n the local market. The children in Home of Grace enjoy helping Tom to feed the frogs and clean the containers. So, here are some photos of the project.
Pray that God will be at work in our homes and guide us into His perfect will in all of our activities and projects.
Pray that the families and children become disciplined, hard working, skilled, and God-honoring Christian adults.
Grace and peace to you,
Dave & Shirley Callahan
Tom used water pipes for drainage and stacked old tires to create several large frog-tanks in their small yard.
The finished “frog farm” system uses the plastic pipes to drain the waste-water into a small catfish pond.
Inside the stacked tires, the frogs grow and develop safe from predators and are shaded from the hot sun.
I’ll bet this photo makes you hungry for some fresh and spicy Thai frog-leg stew doesn’t it?
In August we helped Ann, our social work volunteer, to conduct both IQ and EQ testing for all of our Faithful Heart
orphans. Here you see Ann helping several boys complete one of the tests on a Saturday morning in our training room.
