Faithful Heart Ministry

Southern Thailand Jul 20, 2009

July 19th, 2009

Hello dear saints,

This week Shirley and I traveled down to the far south of Thailand. We went for a couple days of much-needed rest (away from phones, computers, and busy chores).

While there, we did spend a day visiting with some new missionary friends, the Paizs family, who live and work in the area devastated by the huge Tsunami in 2004. They are already busy with many ministries, but wanted to ask us about getting involved with an orphan home nearby. We shared the things we’ve learned in the past 4-1/2 years.

We pray God will use our time together and discussion to lead the Paizs family into His will regarding the orphans.

Pray that Shirley and I will be fully rested and refreshed to continue all the work God has in store for us.

Pray that all the surviving families and people living in the Tsunami areas can find the Peace of Christ.

Grace and Peace to you,

Dave & Shirley Callahan

This is a view of the beach. The area is called the Andaman Sea, and has many rocky points that jut out of the ocean.

Along the beach where the huge Tsunami wave came ashore, Shirley watches Poppy

(daughter of missionaries) climb one of the ladders added to the few remaining large trees

on the coastline. The sign says “Tsunami climb up”. Thousands died in this area.

Kimberly, daughter of our missionary friends, Dr. John & Linda Gibson, asked me to give her some painting lessons.

She finished this lovely orchid to give as a gift for her host in Thailand. I love to teach and she has a special talent!
