Hello dear friends,
All of our families have very busy lives. But, even for “busy people”, some times are more hectic than others.
We’re at the start of “rainy season” in Thailand, and our families are working to plant another rice-crop. They’re also managing many self-help activities within the home. And, of course, all the house parents try to keep “parenting” (loving & nurturing the children) as their first & foremost responsibility. “The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise.” (Prov 23:24)
At Home of Comfort the teenage boys love to spend time at the rice-paddy land. Here they are at our rice-mill building. On the far right, under the yellow pointer, you can see a slanted roof that covers a small pig-pen.
We use chaff removed from the rice, during the milling process, as bedding for the pigs…it eliminates most of the bad odor. After we sell the pigs, the bedding can be bagged & sold as mulch-fertilizer.
At Home of Comfort, they raise and sell ducks at the local market.
They also raise chickens (to eat, and to sell). Here they have new chicks—also bedding in the rice-chaff.
In the plowed rice paddy, Tom, house father at Home of Grace, spent a day slogging through the mud to spread rice seed on the sprouting bed. “For the Lord is happy with His people. He saves those who have no pride and makes them beautiful.” (Psalm 149:4)
One reason the teen boys love to help at the rice-paddy land is evident here: We have 2 large fish ponds there, and after some chores, the boys go fishing. Here Solomon looks pretty serious about his trophy catch!
Shirley & I are working now with a fellow missionary who’ll help us improve communication links with our friends & supporters. Over the next few months you’ll notice gradual changes which should make it easier for you to see more photos, videos, and updated ministry news. So, expect some new opportunities to follow Faithful Heart Foundation. But rest assured, we plan to continue publishing our weekly newsletter.
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)
Grace and Peace to you in Christ,
