Hello dear friends,
I’m sending this “special edition” of our Callahan Corner to ask for prayer & support for Shirley.
She has been fighting an infection for over 5-weeks. We’ve been to the hospital many times, and they’ve tried several courses of stronger & stronger antibiotics without success. Finally the doctors discovered the root-cause is an infection of the diverticulum that urgently requires surgery. “My body and my heart may grow weak, but God is the strength of my heart and all I need forever.” (Psalm 73:26)
So, our plan is that she’ll be admitted to the hospital here in Chiangmai tomorrow (Wednesday Nov 16th) and the surgery is scheduled for early Thursday morning.
The doctors tell us, if all goes well, she should expect 5-7 days of recovery in the hospital, and then a couple months at home on very light duty.
“I will give you back your health again and heal your wounds.” (Jeremiah 30:17)
I’m sending this to you all for two reasons:
First, and most importantly, please pray for Shirley, and for the surgeons, and all the nurses and medical personnel at the hospital—May God guide and bless every aspect of her care.
Secondly, the cost quoted to us for her surgery & treatment will use up all of the money we’ve saved for medical expenses. We have no health insurance coverage in Thailand. So, please also pray that the final hospital bill will be less than what the doctors have predicted, and well within our budget.
“Because you have made the Lord your safe place, and the Most High the place where you live, nothing will hurt you…” (Psalm 91:9-10 NLV)
May God bless you in His lavish abundance,
Dave & Shirley Callahan
