In our mission-ministry, we are always learning: “Now teach me good judgment as well as knowledge. For your laws are my guide.” (Psalm 119:66)
And, we’re learning in order that we can then teach and share our skills & wisdom. “You should teach them God’s commands and explain to them how they should live and what they should do.” (Exodus 18:20)
This week we can look at some pictures of this never-ending process:
To learn, and then to teach – To receive a blessing, and then to share it.
At our Happy Hearts Dorm, two boys were busy with their homework. In all of our homes, weekday afternoons include time dedicated to school studies.
“Listen, and I will teach you what wise men have said. Study their teachings…” (Proverbs 22:17)
Our foundation staff and house parents are also involved in learning. Here we were participating in a group learning discussion.
“I will never neglect your instructions, because by them you have kept me alive.” (Psalm 119:93)
At Abundant Grace dorm, in Mae Chaem, there are 28 hill tribe students who come from poor families & villages, and they love to study and attend school.
“God, teach me lessons for living so I can stay the course. Give me insight so I can do what you tell me––my whole life one long, obedient response. ” (Psalm 119:33-34 The Message))
We use college students who are willing to sharpen their “teaching skills” by spending time with our children.
“It was he (God) who “gave gifts to mankind”; he appointed some to be apostles, others to be prophets, others to be evangelists, others to be pastors and teachers. He did this to prepare all God’s people for the work of Christian service, in order to build up the body of Christ.” (Eph 4:10)
Ever since our foundation mission-trip last December, the teen boys at Home of Comfort have been eager to visit mountain villages to teach the poor children Bible songs & stories.
“As for me, the LORD forbid that I should sin against him by no longer praying for you. Instead, I will teach you what is good and right for you to do.” (1 Sam 12:23)
Even Shirley & I need to be continuously learning if we are ever to teach well.
“Your commandments are my eternal possession; they are the joy of my heart. I have decided to obey your laws until the day I die.” (Psalm 119:111-112)
Please pray for all of the sweet children living safely under our foundation care. May we all grow in wisdom and holiness…that Christ will be lifted up.
“You need to use your head and test your feelings so that your love is sincere and intelligent– may God give you peace and grace and patience enough to shine brightly for Him.” (Philippians 1:9-10 The Message)
Grace and peace be with you in Christ,
