Faithful Heart News

Callahan Corner: June 30, 2017

Hello dear friends,

While Shirley’s been in the US, we’ve kept up daily contact; not just for my emotional well-being, but because we need her input & assistance as we manage all the families and activities here in Thailand. “For our people must learn to help all who need their assistance, that their lives will be fruitful.” (Titus 3:14)

There is a booksellers convention and public “Book Fair” going on this week in Chiang Mai. On Saturday all of our families spent time looking for books we can use to build a Faithful Heart Library. We hope to gather books for children (of all ages) that will inspire them to enjoy reading as a lifelong pastime. Even God has books, “Then those who feared and loved the Lord spoke often of him to each other. And he had a Book of Remembrance drawn up in which he recorded the names of those who feared him and loved to think about him.” (Mal 3:16)CIMG4255 rev

Matt and Audrey are still visiting folks in the US. But, in the days before leaving, they helped teach English to these adorable children in a local school. They incorporated Bible stories and made the learning great fun. This type of engagement in the community is a government requirement as they help us in our foundation ministry. “Obey the government, for God is the one who has put it there.” (Rom 13:1)IMG_5027

David, Joy, and Pen visited our Home of Promise for a brief meeting & lunch with house mother Nidt. “And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.” (Matt 18:20 The Message)CIMG4234 rev

Here the ladies were cleaning dishes and I took a photo showing the outdoor/covered kitchen area behind the house. “Your basket and your kitchen will be blessed. You will be blessed when you come in and when you go out.” (Deut 28:5-6)HOP kitchen

The four new boys, at Home of Comfort dorm, got haircuts & wore “scout” uniforms as they head to school after summer break. “Be prepared–all dressed and ready—“ (Luke 12:35)New boys ready for school

Home of Comfort dorm is now home for eleven (11) boys…who are “eating-machines”! Last week they drained one of the fish ponds and harvested fish. It was muddy fun, and the work provided a delicious meal of grilled fish and rice. “Simon Peter announced, “I’m going fishing.” The rest of them replied, “We’re going with you.” (John 21:2)fish pond 6-2017 rev

Here you see Gawtoon about to take David to school on the back of a motorbike. “A friend is always loyal,
and a brother is born to help in time of need.” (Prov 17:17)SAM_1692 rev

Well, it’s nearly time for me to head for America. I’m eager to go, but I’m not used to travelling without Shirley—I depend on her because my hearing is so poor. “Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day” (1 Kings 19:4)dave banner

Shirley & I hope we have an opportunity to visit you soon.

Grace and peace to you in Christ,
