Faithful Heart News

Callahan Corner July 20, 2014

Hello dear friends,

Last weekend our family from Happy Heart Dorm came to visit us in Chiang Mai (the dorm is about 6-hours drive northeast of here). We planned a Saturday “Faithful Heart Movie day” for all of our families, and rented a large training room to project our film onto a wall …just like a regular big-screen theater! We provided drinks & snacks and all of our families enjoyed the good-time fellowship.

The family at Happy Heart Dorm is shown here. Top row: Grace, dorm-parents Lek & Nui, and Camp. Bottom row: Chris, Poon, Liew, and Referee (Yes, that’s really his name!). Lek & Nui take poor village children into their dorm to “raise them up in the Lord” and ensure they can go to school.

“If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord—and he will repay you!” (Proverbs 19:17)

This week we had a monthly staff meeting, and we held it on-site at our rice-mill and dorm construction land. Before the meeting, I took this happy group-photo.

“So now you… are no longer strangers and foreigners. You…are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.” (Ephesians 2:19)

Though we met in the shade of the rice-mill building…the temperature was still pretty high, so our meeting didn’t last too long.

I took this wide-angle photo from the 2nd storey of the dorm construction—it shows: 1)  our rice mill building and 2)  our rented rice paddy land right beside it, and 3) one of our fish ponds. It is a beautiful location.

The boys dorm construction is still making steady progress. The workers are about ready to put on the roof tiles.

“Do your planning and prepare your fields before building your house.” (Proverbs 24:27)

Please keep praying for all of our orphan children and for the family homes; they face daunting challenges and difficulties.

Shirley & I also need your prayers: We are so weak and the need is so great– may God do some good & lasting “kingdom” work here that reaches far beyond our generation.

“May God be merciful and bless us. May his face smile with favor on us.” (Psalm 67:1)

Grace & peace to you in Christ,

Shirley & I have scheduled a visit to the US this fall:  Arrive on November 13th, and fly back to Thailand on December 2nd.

Please pray about giving us an opportunity to visit your church or group to report on the mission work.
