Hello dear friends,
It has been a wet-rainy and muggy week here, but our activities and projects have continued despite the weather.
At the rice-mill land, some of our teenage boys have found time to work with the building contractor after school and on Saturdays. Here, Samuel is working beside the brick-wall. You can see standing water in the background…lots of rain!
Joshua, one of our College Dorm students, has also been helping and learning to do various construction jobs this summer. He enjoys learning valuable trade-skills. Next month his university classes will start again.
Here the house parents (L-R: Mong, Nice, Tom, and Prajuab) were planning the activities and work schedule for the next rice-crop. We’re proud that they’ve become more and more self-confident to plan & follow-through with a big project.
On land nearby the rice-mill, we began planting our new Moringa Tree orchard. I sketched in some lines to show how we’re trying to layout the trees. It was a rainy day, and the work was interrupted several times by heavy showers.
We harvest the moringa leaves to make specially flavored “Health Tea”. We already have some of our dorm students (like Bob here) who enjoy manning a booth on a busy downtown street in the evening. Eventually, we plan to create a website where folks can see the tea and other products on the internet, and place orders. Of course, any profit from our projects goes right back into our support for the orphan homes and Christian dorms.
“Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.” (1 Thess 4:11-12)
Please pray often for all of our children, all our house parents, and for Shirley & me.
Last week I mentioned that we’ll begin using various social media platforms to help us: get more information, to more people, more often. We’ve setup a Facebook page for Faithful Heart, and there will be ways for folks to follow us on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and others. Pray that God will greatly bless our friend Wendy, as she helps us reach out in new ways.
“I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow.” (Isaiah 48:17)
