Last week we hosted a team (Audrey’s family, friends visiting from Texas, and our college dorm students ) to do a 3-day volunteer “mission-trip” to help the family & children at the Mae Chaem Abundant Grace dorm.
This week we’ll share a few photos of the work, plus photos of Home of Grace children getting a general health check-up at their church.
This is a “closet space” at the Mae Chaem dorm. The rented 2-storey dorm building is very modest. If you look up-close, nearly everything needs fixed or replaced! But, the children are well loved, and nurtured in faith.
“Then Jesus said to the disciples, “And so I tell you not to worry about the food you need to stay alive or about the clothes you need for your body.” (Luke 12:22)
This team raised money to do several things: buy new matresses for the beds, new sheets, plus clean, repair, & paint the walls and replace burned-out lamps.
Meanwhile, at Home of Grace, the children got a general health check-up done by a team of nurses visiting their church.
Here Phillip says, “Ahhh” while the nurse checks his throat and teeth. Peter is smiling in the background, but he’ll get his turn too!
“Being cheerful keeps you healthy.” (Proverbs 17:22a)
The nurses also did blood-pressure checks, and here Grit and little Gowin are at the table to have theirs checked & recorded.
“The good people taste your goodness, The whole people taste your health, The true people taste your truth,” (Psalm 18:25-6 The Message)
At the Home of Grace dorm, the boys have three bunk-beds crowded into a tiny bedroom. The space is very tight, but the boys don’t mind. We’ll need to find much more space when they become teenagers!
“urge the young men to behave carefully, taking life seriously. And here you yourself must be an example to them of good deeds of every kind.” (Titus 2:6)
Back at Mae Chaem, you can see that Shirley helped with cleaning the dusty-dirty walls before we painted them.
Next week we will show you the results of the work.
Please pray for all of our children, house parents, staff & volunteers. Shirley & I plan to leave Friday to spend about 4 weeks in the US.
May God watch over and protect the families and workers.
Grace and peace be yours forever in Christ,
Dave & Shirley Callahan
