Faithful Heart News

Callahan Corner for Jan 10, 2016

Hello dear friends, Every month, we have a “Best Photo” contest to choose which family home has submitted the best photo. During our monthly staff meeting we choose ten great photos from all those taken & submitted that month. Then we all vote to see which one of those is the very best, and award that family a prize. This competition helps us find good, descriptive pictures to send in our newsletter. This week we’ll show you a few of the recent choices.

These are our colorful girls from Home of Faith during a face-painting game at their church-camp weekend. L-R are: Becky, Rose, Rachel, Raina, Rhoda, Rose, and Ruth. “Friends come and friends go, but a true friend sticks by you like family.” (Prov 18:24 The Message)

The family from Home of Faith visited one of their mountain villages to help celebrate a Thanksgiving day among the Mein hill tribe people. These ladies are decked-out in traditional dress. “you who are younger, be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another…” (1 Peter 5:5)

We loved this photo of all the happy boys at Home of Grace…it’s so hard to get everyone smiling at the same time! L-R are: Gowin, Mark, John, Peter, Benjamin, Phillip, and Grit. “Always be joyful.” (1 Thess 5:16)

Here some of our kids try to hold up a tub of water with their feet…the challenge was to see which group could keep it up the longest. It only took a few minutes for legs to get tired, and eventually the water splashed onto the contestants. “I keep striving to win the prize…” (Philipp 3:12)

The day-long Christmas activities included this team race to fill cups with water and advance the ball from cup-to-cup by blowing it. Here Isaiah, from Home of Comfort, is carefully trying to get the ball into the next cup (and not onto the grass!). “So I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize…” (Philipp 3:14)

It’s already been two-weeks since we prepared the paddy and planted a new “dry-season” rice crop. This is Mong, one of our house fathers, dressed in protective wear and ready to spray for insects at the newly plowed (churned mud) paddy. “ We must wear faith and love as a breastplate, and our hope of salvation as a helmet.” (1 Thess 5:8)

In November, we rescued a puppy from the neighborhood water-drain. Gawley loved it. It would follow him around and it slept under his bed. Sad to report that it got sick and died last weekend. Gawley cried over his little companion. “Be happy with those who are happy, weep with those who weep. Have the same concern for everyone.” (Romans 12:15)

We have been through a very busy season, filled with special activities, many responsibilities, and quite a few times of worship and celebration. Now with a new year upon us, please remember to pray for the physical and spiritual health and strength of all our children. “The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” (2 Chron 16:9)

Our love, and God’s grace to you in Christ,
