Many times we get compliments about the photos we share in our newsletter– I sort through many photos, to pick just a few good ones each week. But, as you all know from experience, it’s not easy to get a good photo! There are times when the children just are not ready to smile. Here Mark was stung by a bee, and Benjamin was not happy. “Tears may flow in the night, but joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5)
There are times when distractions draw attention away…times when the children seem to be “dreaming of another place”. “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” (Psalms 55:8 )
Sometimes, as with Rachael here getting ready to race, there are more serious things to focus on. “Surely you know that many runners take part in a race, but only one of them wins the prize.” (1 Corinthians 9:24)
Sometimes our camera is just a bit too slow or too fast…capturing the wrong moment – Mama needs a nap too! “When I lie down, I go to sleep in peace; you alone, O LORD, keep me perfectly safe.” (Psalms 4:8)
Sometimes it’s not the camera or the photographer—kids love to make funny faces! Even our house parents get caught making some strange faces and funny looks. I doubt that our housefather, Mong, is thinking of (Deut 14:20); “You may eat any clean insect.”
And yes, Shirley and I get caught too — I have no idea what we were thinking or looking at! We were definitely not “posing” for the camera.
But, oh how sweet it is when everyone comes together for a good photo!!!! “ do your best to add goodness to your faith; …; to your godliness add brotherly affection; and to your brotherly affection add love.” (2 Peter 1:5-7)
